The Writers Bureau are pleased to announce that the 2012 Poetry Writing Competition is now open. And the prize money offered for an entry fee of only £5.00 is not to be sniffed at – first prize is £500, second £300, third £200 and fourth prize is £100. Plus, subscribers to Freelance Market News pay even less with a reduced fee of £4.00 per entry. The winning poems will be displayed on the Writers Bureau website and mentioned on their Twitter and Facebook pages too – that’s some great free promotion. And the poem placed first will also appear in print in Freelance Market News.
Entries can be on any theme and in any form. They should be no longer than 40 lines and they must not have been published previously. This year’s judge is the highly experienced poet, Alison Chisholm. With nine collections of poetry, numerous poetry writing textbooks and years of teaching experience to her name, she’s the ideal choice to assess the plentiful supply of entries The Writers Bureau receive for this competition every year.
Closing date is 31st December 2012.
