Noel Gama“What started out as an early investment for my retirement, not only became my full-time job’s biggest competitor but also gave me a recession-proof future!” writes Noël Gama.

The Comprehensive Writing Course

I enrolled on WB’s Comprehensive Writing Course as I saw in it good potential as a profitable post-retirement activity. A week after submitting Assignment 1, my tutor, Clare O’Brien, wrote back, “Nice imagery and symbol; well-controlled use of meta-phor” – nine words that opened a door for me. From then on, I got article after article published, wrote two columns on diverse topics, like the wildly popular The other side of wildlife and Great Expatations which is currently being read by expats in over 50 embassies in India. By December 2006, I had signed my first book deal with Survival Books for Culture Wise India without even submitting a book proposal. “I have looked at your blog and like your writing style,” wrote Peter Read, the publisher of Survival Books Ltd (UK). By industry standards, it takes an average of 10 years for a writer to get the first book accepted by a publisher – with WB by my side, I did it in less than three years! “Thanks for sending the almost-final version of CW India,” wrote France-based editor, Joe Laredo while acknowledging receipt of the manuscript. Culture Wise India is al-ready selling on Amazon even before its launch, which is due in April 2009.

I set up Noah’s Mark Publishing for my mentally and physically challenged little son, Noah, and published the first book, Where Angels Tread – A Guide to the Churches, Chapels, Crosses & Grottos of Daman, in July 2007. The research material is now being used for my first romance novel featuring a beautiful Portuguese novitiate who, betrayed by her lover, seeks solitude in a convent in India Portuguesa of the 1950s only to find forbidden love.

As I await confirmation from a New York publisher who is interested in my book pro-posal for HR Writing for the 21st Century, I’m enjoying big success as the editor of In The Pipeline, a corporate newsletter I created and launched in January 2007 for my company, which manufactures steel line-pipes in India, Dubai and the US.

Write for Profit Using the Internet Course

My blog2book site on Indo-Portuguese culture, which was launched by the Consul General of Portugal in June 2006 on the National Day of Portugal, has since been attracting thousands of targeted visitors – a potential gold mine for Internet marketing! Realizing the immense potential of the Internet, I enrolled on WB’s Write for Profit Using the Internet course in July 2006. Stingray! Master of Disguise, an Assignment 2 submission, got me very encouraging feedback from my tutor, Carol Anne Strange. The article was published and gave birth to a popular blog, Noah’s Ark: Why Steve Irwin Went Overboard. “You’re doing a great job. Not only are you a great writer and keen student of writing (which I greatly respect), you’re doing a great service for wildlife too. Well done – and keep it up!” commented Rob Parnell of The Easy Way To Write (Australia).

Taking the cue from Carol, I tried my hand at B2B copywriting and launched yet another blog on B2B web copywriting. In November 2008, I launched Daman Global, a monthly eNewsletter now read worldwide by thousands of people of Indo-Portuguese descent.

WB’s Writing for Profit using the Internet course opened the doors that eventually led me to start my fledgling Internet eBook empire in two niches viz., Indo-Portuguese culture and HR Writing. was launched in the Indo-Portuguese niche this November and is all set for up-loading in the HR Writing niche in January 2009

Biographies, Memoirs and Family Histories Course

In a bid to boost credibility and impress foreign investors, corporate India has jumped on to the biographies bandwagon. As I head Corporate Communication in addition to HR, I took it upon myself to write Pipe Dreams for my company. At about the same time, my fascination with the emerging creative non-fiction genre had me outlining Witness – a personal memoir framed by a major (albeit little known) historical event. After researching what was on offer on the Internet I found WB’s Biographies, Memoirs and Family Histories course to be the only one that would accommodate both the projects and so got myself on it in February 2008.

Why The Writers Bureau?

While the Comprehensive Writing Course is the spine of my writing success cheat sheet, WB is the mother ship. I’ve been on a number of writing courses elsewhere but none is as good. And of the very few that offer one-on-one tutoring, only WB has the same tutor throughout a set of modules – the people manning WB from the ‘captain’ down, don’t change… the faces, the names… have been the same for years, keeping the ship stable and on course while ‘passengers’ come and go. I’ve decided to be a life-long passenger, disembarking at ports of interest but always returning to the mother ship. Writing has given me a world without borders – thanks to The Writers Bureau, I am truly a citizen of planet earth.

Annemarie Munro Writers Bureau's Student of the Year 2022

"I have seen my writing journey as an adventure: What can I write? What am I best at? What new aspects of writing can I discover and contribute towards? I have welcomed the wide range of modules covering different types of writing, challenging me to try new aspects in style and content, pushing me gently outside my comfort zone with encouragement.

"I signed up for the course in December 2020 as a Christmas present to myself and I started the first module in January 2021. I have had eight pieces published: three paid earning £1080 and a star letter where I won a £250 hotel voucher."
