Writers Bureau Copywriter Shelley Bowers Describes What Her Job Involves.
A typical day in the life of a copywriter is very difficult to describe because we have such varied work depending on who we work for and what business our employers are engaged in. Of course, many copywriters work on a freelance basis too, so their work is likely to be even more varied! So, I’ll give you an insight into what I do on a day-to-day, monthly and occasional basis so you get an idea.
At the moment, I am tasked with creating copy to be used for different SEO projects we are working on. For example, I am writing articles on various subjects for:
I also post updates on the social networking sites we are subscribed to, which are:
I write a weekly blog post for another of our sister companies, Artful Dodgers and each month I edit our free e-zine, E-Zee Writer. We are also running monthly competitions, so I also write the copy needed for these.
I write updates for the course information detailed on our website and prepare copy for the yearly competitions we run on both The Writers Bureau and Business Training Websites, which are:
Another big part of what I do is updating the existing printed course information and writing prospectuses for the new courses we launch. Plus, all the follow-up material that goes with them. I also write new or update existing copy for email and postal marketing campaigns, when needed. We are members of the Association of British Correspondence Colleges, who have a Course of the Week page, I write copy for that when it’s The Writers Bureau’s turn.
What Have I Done Today? Today I spent the morning writing an article on different note taking techniques. I then spent some time updating our social media sites and researching other social media avenues to pursue. Then, this afternoon I wrote this article. During the day I will also spend time reading, editing and reviewing the writing that I prepared the day before.
So, as you can see my days can be vary varied and interesting and, if you decide to become a copywriter, yours will be too!

"I’d just like to say thanks. If it wasn't for your lovely tutor giving me some really positive feedback, I wouldn't have dared to try and become freelance copywriter and leave a full-time job. Since I've started out on my own, my quality of life has improved dramatically. I'm happier, my little boy is happier and I'm excited to grow my business over the next year. I've earned £1940 in just under six months working on a part-time basis. '’I've got three regular clients. I'll always be grateful to them for taking me on despite being new to this profession."
