Cynthia John

“The Writers Bureau provided the motivation through assignments that demanded research and creative writing. The feedback was right on, and helped me spot my mistakes and improve my writing.”

Cynthia John

Cynthia was already a writer when she enrolled on our Writing for Children course. But she wanted her work to be accepted by bigger publishers so she could reach a wider audience and make a greater impact.

She found the course stimulated her imagination and motivated her to write more creatively, making her work more effective. After studying with The Writers Bureau she went on to write for one of the biggest Bible-based publishers in the USA, David C. Cook. CEEFI found her work so reliably creative that they entrusted a whole series of books – 11 in total – to Cynthia.

In addition, she has been featured in a number of notable publications, including: ‘Child’, ‘Deccan Herald’, ‘The Hindu’, ‘The New Indian Express’ and ‘MSN’ and is currently on her 54th published book, with another nine due to be printed and a further three already commissioned.

Her books have been published by ‘Royal Star Books’, ‘Good Housekeeping’, ‘Education World’, ‘OM Books’ and ‘Educomp’.

Cynthia has also found success as an Executive Editor for the ‘Toy Association of India’ and an Editor for ‘Parenting Education’.

But, not content with that, she’s also started her own business – Art Corner – which supplies design and content solutions to children’s publications. She hopes that her success as a children’s writer will help her grow her business too.

And Cynthia managed all this with two young children to care for. She credits The Writers Bureau with providing the motivation she needed to complete the assignments and with improving her writing with detailed feedback.

Lou Carter"After completing the course I began writing as much as I could and in 2014 I was finally signed by my agent and within two months I had a contract with Bloomsbury.

To date I have nine picture book contracts all at various stages of publication. There Is No Dragon In This Story (Bloomsbury) and Pirate Stew (Orchard) both published last summer and Oscar The Hungry Unicorn (Orchard) is due to be released on Sept 20th 2018. "
