Rachel Dove

Studied the Comprehensive Creative Writing course and the Writing for Children course

Rachel DoveSince winning the Writers Bureau Writer of the Year Award in 2016, after coming first in the Prima/Mills & Boon Flirty Fiction competition the year before, I have been so busy!

I recently completed my Writing for Children course, having completed the Comprehensive Writing course before this, and I have just finished my eighth romantic fiction book, which is to be published by Harper Collins in 2019. I have had work published in newspapers and magazines in the UK and abroad, been on BBC Radio shows, and had the opportunity to meet many wonderful authors and publishers at some amazing parties and events! I still feel like I am perfecting my craft, so I decided to continue studying Creative Writing, having been bitten by the bug. I am now in my second year of a Creative Writing MA, and my previous courses really did prepare me well for submitting professionally and successfully to publishers, editors and tutors alike.

I am always grateful that I took the time and effort to do the writing courses with The Writers Bureau, and even now, they are still a great source of support and help. I recently signed with Lina from The Kate Nash Agency, and I can't wait to see what 2019 and beyond will bring! I cannot recommend them enough. I now get to raise my family and continue to fulfil my dreams. It's the best of both worlds.

Rachel's eighth book, The Fire House on Honeysuckle Street, was released on 1st May 2019.

Theresa Gooda Writers Bureau's Student of the Year 2021

“I began my first Writers Bureau course (Comprehensive Creative Writing) in 2007. Having more than covered the course fees from published pieces I have never looked back. Initially my ambitions were to get going. I knew I wanted to be a writer, I just didn’t know how to go about it, or, if I’m honest, quite what I wanted to write. Since, I have gradually blended a teaching career with writing, first with articles and short stories, then increasing the writing commitment dramatically when I secured an agent in 2016 to ghostwrite a series of memoirs. This year I have undertaken The Art of Writing Poetry course to really hone my skills in what I now realise is a genre I love - and have already had my first poems published.”
