March 2019
"I took the Novel and Short Story Writing course at The Writers Bureau back in 2011 and I always felt that it really laid the foundations for my writing. The course material is very engaging and easy to understand and does a good job of covering all aspects of Novel and Short Story Writing. I went on to take the courses offered be Faber as well, but it all started at the Writers Bureau. My tutor was absolutely phenomenal with her critical feedback. Despite a sharp editorial eye, she always made sure that she offered encouragement and praise as well which really helped build my self esteem. It is so important to prop up aspiring writers with encouragement and support, and The Writers Bureau does just that.
"In March 2017, I was picked up by Annette Crossland (Literary Agent at A for Authors Agency Ltd), following which, in December 2018, my debut novel "In the Company of Strangers" was picked up by The Book Guild in the UK with publication scheduled for July 2019. The Indian subcontinent rights for the same novel were subsequently bought by Simon and Schuster India for publication in 2020.
"Thank you so much for giving me the push I needed to start writing."
"My debut novel, Hate To Love You, by Elise Alden (my pen name for contemporary and historical romance), received three offers of publication. I went with Harlequin Carina Press.
"So, thank you Writers Bureau, to which I am extremely grateful. The Novel and Short Story course gave me the tools I needed to write my first novel."
