This month we have expert advice from tutor Nicki Taylor on how to create convincing dialogue, Ten Top Tips is all about making money from your travels, Useful Websites shows you where to get your work peer reviewed and, as always, there’s a little Inspiration for you too!

Hello Lovely Readers,

It’s nearly summer and they are forecasting snow showers. What a messed up world this is! We should be shedding our outer layers and enjoying the warmth of the sun on our bare, lilly-white arms by this time in the year. But, I suppose the old saying is true – never cast a clout ‘till May is out!

Some of you may already be aware of this from the Course of the Week emails, but for those who aren’t, I just thought I would let you know about the other two arms of our business. We have a Business Training College where we specialise in teaching speakers of other languages how to write Business English. But that’s not all, we also have courses in business and management, including Effective Time Management, which is useful to just about anyone as it can help you decrease your stress levels and increase your productivity.

And, the other arm of our business is Artful Dodgers, a supplier of colourful and creative arts and crafts equipment for the children in your life or the child in you! Random I know, but great fun. We have loads of fantastic things to play with from super little musical instrument sets to complex fraction toys from our Montessori range.

So, there you have it. Now you know simply everything about us!

Right, what have you lovely people got planned for this summer? If you have holidays in the pipeline, and even if you haven’t, this month’s Ten Top Tips will be of use to you. And, contrary to popular belief, you can earn money travel writing without even leaving your armchair.

Experienced tutor, Nicki Taylor, advises on how to create realistic dialogue in this month’s expert advice. This is something that you really need to get right if you want success with your fiction writing and it’s often harder than you think to make it sound authentic.

The student successes are as inspiring as ever and it never ceases to amaze us how successful our students are. Don’t forget to post yours in the forum or email them directly to me using

Useful websites features one from a student, thank you Terri, and two others on the same subject – getting your work peer reviewed. And, Inspiration is looking forward to November. I know it seems strange to be thinking about Bonfire Night and the like when we are only in May, but that’s the way it is when planning your articles.

If you are thinking of entering our Short Story Competition, you’d better get your skates on – it closes at the end of June. First prize is £500 and as much kudos as you can cope with.

Fancy attending some interesting events? The British Library is a great place to start. In June you could see Wagner the Writer – A Study Day, The Josephine Hart Poetry Hour – the Poetry of Sylvia Plath and, with the rise of social media and the use of it to promote ourselves, this could be an interesting talk, Myths and realities 19: new democracy or mass deception.

And finally, keep your eyes open for the Course of the Week (COTW) on Twitter and Facebook for a £25 reduction on selected course fees.

Enjoy and, until next month, keep writing!

P.S. Don’t forget our monthly competition – you could win a Fiction Writing Course.
