A Total Flop and Writers Groups!

March 27th, 2013

I’ve had no more additions for the story I’ve been trying to get going on the blog. So, I think we can call that a flop. Thank you to the two people who tried to get it going, but I think we’ll just leave it there.
Right! What to do this week. I think some information on creative writing groups would be a good idea.Writing can be a very solitary profession, especially if you are not that good at social networking, on or off line. When you are working on something big and your deadline is looming, you may find yourself sitting for long periods, all alone. This is, of course, where writers groups come into their own, for novice writers and seasoned pros alike. For the newbie writer, it can give you a much needed boost of confidence and spur you on to submitting your work to publishers. For the seasoned pro, it can be a great place to pass on your knowledge to those just starting out. And, regardless of experience, all who attend can gain valuable feedback on their work and some longed for company too!

Most cities have writers groups, a simple search using Google produces reams of results. And the National Association of Writer’s Groups website has a directory you can browse too. But, if you find yourself in the position of not having a group near to you – start one! I’m not going to go into details here, but I will give you a link to a super little article that gives you the basics of starting a group of your own: Tips for Starting a Writing Group

If you do set up a group, or already run one, let me know and I’ll give it a plug for you – email shelleyb@writersbureau.com
