For the tech lovers!

October 23rd, 2013

We know that all you really need is a piece of paper and a pencil to write, but I know many of you like to use techie stuff too. And lots of it can be really useful. Have a look at these offerings of software for writers and see if there’s anything that takes your fancy.

Freemind – this is a mind mapping tool. Their website describes it as a ‘high productivity tool that allows you to create a mind map to brainstorm ideas, write essays and get things done!’

Celtex – just what you need if you want something to help you organise your creative writing. On their site it says ‘Industry-leading writing and pre-production services to help you create and collaborate.’

yWriters – another free programme that helps you organise your work. It’s, ‘a word processor which breaks your novel into chapters and scenes, helping you keep track of your work while leaving your mind free to create.’

Dark Room – a great little piece of kit if you find yourself getting distracted when you’re writing. The developer says ‘Dark Room is a full screen, distraction free, writing environment.’

Dropbox – want somewhere to store your work and access it from anywhere? Dropbox can help.

Evernote – this little piece of kit helps you keep notes, which is great when you think of random ideas whilst out shopping – saves you having to get a notepad and pencil out.

Sonar – a super little submission tracking tool, which can be essential if you have 20 pieces of work out with publishers at one time.

If you use, or know of any other software that you simply love, let me know.
