THERESA G - August 25, 2010 writes:

Hi all - I am away from home at the moment and left my assignment at home. I really want to get started on N3 but can't remember the exact wording of the question. Can somebody copy and paste the title of N3 assignment so I know I am on the right track! Thanks so much.

ASSIGNMENT 3

You should attempt this assignment after studying Module 7.

This is an OPEN ASSIGNMENT which means that you can use it to have work of your choice assessed by your tutor. The only restrictions are as follows:

(i) The work must be non-fiction. At this stage in the course you will have a tutor who specialises in non-fiction; so it could create difficulties if you sent in a piece of fiction for assessment.

(ii) There is an upper limit of 2,000 words, but you can send less. You should submit one or more complete articles, fillers, readers letters etc. Do not send an extract from a longer piece of work. Indicate the word length clearly on each piece.

(iii) You must indicate the proposed market for your work.

Remember, the best way to approach this assignment is to:

(a) Think of an idea for an article on a subject that you are already knowledgeable about or are interested in.

(b) Find a magazine – either in the newsagents or on the Internet – that publishes the kind of article you intend to write and then analyse it carefully so that you get a feel for what the editor is looking for.

(c) Now write your article(s), fillers or letters in the appropriate style and to a suitable length. Make sure you have done enough research, but don't overburden your work with facts and figures.

(d) Put your work away for a couple of days. Then check it again to make sure your grammar and spelling are correct, your facts are accurate and your presentation is professional.

(e) Now send the work to your tutor and don't forget to name your market(s).

Hope this helps!
Best wishes,

Lucy
