Resubmitting the article for the competition

Ajay S - July 18, 2010 writes:

Hi, I had recently submitted one of my entry to the National Level Story/Poem writing competition. I am planning to use the same poem for another competition but the rule says that all the entries should be original and not published or submitted anywhere. How can I use my poems? Is it ok to write the poems in other words and submit it? Regards Ajay Singh

Dear Ajay, I am not sure if you can really rewrite a poem, though it works pretty well for an article. Poetry is so much more intuitive and I am presuming that you have done the best you could with your first poem. What you could do is try writing a new poem on the same subject. Try changing the perspective, put it in a different time or place, change the viewpoint and so on. You might just end up with another beautiful poem that is quite different from the first but equally impressive. Hope this helps, Juhi
