local paper published my article!

Hi everyone, I opened my local paper yesterday and there was one of my articles and my photos. Its great to see, I dont get paid for the newspaper work, just my magazine articles, but its great for experience! Just doing another article and did pics too so hope that will be in next week!mandy

Well done, that's good news.

It's even better when you get paid for your work though, so be careful about giving your work away - the newspaper is onto a good thing, getting free articles and photos!

If you are willing to give it away, they will take it - it saves them having to pay their freelance writers (I've worked for newspapers and they often use - and pay - freelance writers, but they won't use them when they have someone like you giving them articles and photos for free) so maybe next time ask about being paid for it.
