END NOTE and a little inspiration!

Of course Christmas is the biggest pull when it comes to writing articles for December. However, there are all sorts of other things going on that you could write about. Could you use any of these events to create an interesting article? This month you should be planning for submission in December.

Smallpox is certified as eradicated - the first disease to receive this status.

10th December

Human Rights Day.

11th December 2006

 Elizabeth Bolden - at the time of her death, the world's oldest person - dies in Tennessee, USA.

12th December 1992

Princess Anne marries Tim Lawrence in small ceremony in Scotland.

13th December 1983

Nichita Stanescu - Romanian poet and essayist - dies in Bucharest (see below for super little Nichita poem).

14th December 1979

 Manchester and England footballer Michael Owen is born in Chester.

15th December 1960

 King Baudouin of Belgium marries - are you ready? - Fabiola Fernanda Maria de las Victorias Antonia Adelaida de Mora y Aragon in Belgium. Phew!

16th December 1969

MPs vote to abolish hanging in the UK.

17th December

 Wright Brothers Day - USA.

18th December 1966

Richard L Walker discovers Saturn's moon, Epimethius.

19th December

1154 Henry II of England is crowned King in a ceremony held at Westminster Abbey.

20th December 1968

American writer John Steinbeck - ‘Of Mice and Men' and ‘The Grapes of Wrath' - dies in New York.

21st December

 Chester Greenwood Day - the inventor of earmuffs - in Maine, USA.

22nd December 1964

The SR-71 - better known as the Blackbird - takes its first flight.

23rd December

The Emperor of Japan - Akihito's - Birthday.

24th December 1979

Europe's first space rocket - Ariane 1 - is launched.

25th December 1233

The first Nativity scene is assembled by St. Francis of Assisi.

26th December

Wren Day - Ireland and Isle of Man.

27th December 537

Hagia Sophia - the famous mosque in Instanbul - is completed.

28th December 1950

The Peak District becomes the UK's first national park.

29th December 1970

Welsh singer Aled Jones is born Bangor, Wales.

30th December 1924

dward Hubble announces that there is evidence of the existence of other galaxies.

31st December 186

 French painter Henri Matisse is born in Le Cateau-Cambresis, France.

 

This is Nichita's wonderful, and fitting, poem named Field in Spring - enjoy!

Try this little game out - Taberino's - I loved the concept and it kept me hooked for hours, but I am a game freak so...
