"Everyone has a book inside them." I first heard this from a family member at a young age – I forget who exactly... I think they were male, and had hair. The saying stuck in my head, though I didn’t act on it for more than a decade.
“Around three years ago I was lying in bed at some ungodly hour, wondering why I wasn’t asleep, when an idea for a scene popped into my head. I turned on my computer and wrote down the first few paragraphs as they occurred, added some notes about where the story might go, then passed out from tiredness.
“A few weeks later I had about 10,000 words, and I was stuck. I realised that while I knew the basics, I was lacking instruction. Enter The Writers Bureau and my fabulous tutor, Lorraine Mace. Armed with the correct tools, I finished that novel and started on the next. And the next.
“Some time later, I had what I thought was a polished novella by the name of “A Reaper’s Tale” and, nervous as heck, I sent it out to a few suitable publishers. Six days later I recieved an email from my number one choice of publisher. I expected it to be nothing more than a confirmation email, but opened it to discover that it was an acceptance, and that their “readers and editors” had “thoroughly enjoyed this read.”
“That was some eight months ago, and “A Reaper’s Tale” is now for sale in more online stores than I thought existed. What’s more, I just sold a second book to the same publisher. I still can’t quite believe that I’m a published author. People are paying to read my work? Are you crazy?
“Next step – An agent!
“I can’t thank The Writers Bureau enough for their assistance in helping me acheive my goals.
“If you’d like to read about my misadventures in writing, I have a blog titled Editing Hat at www.editinghat.blogspot.com. I also have a website at www.adamslade.moonfruit.com . My book can be found in a variety of places, and you can find an excerpt on the publisher’s site at http://www.lyricalpress.com/store/index.php?main_page=authors&authors_id=147
“Good luck with your writing!”
